A reason to look again.
The movement comes first. Calibre 5000 was IWC's first in-house movement of the modern era, visible through the caseback, with 286 parts in a 38.2mm calibre inside a 42mm case. The 5000-01 is the beginning of the line the 5001 later made famous — first of the line.
The 5000-01 followed the 1993 Jubilee ref. 5441 (125 pieces) and was later replaced by the 5001. It is not an anniversary piece.
Limited edition of 1,000 pieces; this is no. 137/1000, engraved on the caseband, with the box plaque matching.
Original alligator strap — shows visible cracking at the lug end. Private collector sale; bank wire only; inquiries by private message only.
